Tuesday

Wow. I forgot I even had a blog to update!

That’s not entirely true.

I’ve just been busy as hell. I’ve had a lot of things to do lately and less time to do it. I don’t know if I mentioned earlier but we now have chickens. That means that I have all of the chicken duties on top of my regular work and family duties.

But enough of my excuses. Let’s talk about something that is actually interesting, at least to me. Today I got to a customer site two hours before they open. They neglected to mention to me what time “first thing in the morning” means to them. As I was sitting in the parking lot I decided I would just connect to the wireless to do the work that I needed to do since I have full control of everything on the network anyway. The problem is “how do you work from the driver seat of a sedan? The steering wheel is in the way of a full sized laptop, so typing sucks.”

The answer if you own a late-model Taurus is: slide the seat all the way back, slide the steering wheel all the way forward, pull your laptop, and work.

Normally getting everything back to the way you had it would a be a giant pain in the ass, but I have a nice little button that I push that moves everything back into the position where it started. It sounds like a small thing, but it absolutely made my morning. I guess it really is the small things in life that make a difference.

Also, I bought a hat.
